Glacier walk – Ice cave – Superjeep

Explore the highlights of Iceland’s glaciers. Let your guide lead you
through breathtaking glacial landscapes. Equipped with crampons, a
helmet, harness and an Ice axe you will explore the Breidamerkurjokull glacier with the team at Ice Explorers.

The ice caves we visit are natural and conditions can change over time. It is not often we can visit ice caves during summer time. But circumstances allow it now. We assess the situation on a daily basis whether the cave is accessible and safe. So it’s not 100% certain we can visit each day. We do not recommend at all that people who do not know the situation try to visit the cave.

Experience the spectacular scenery on the ever-changing glacier not only in the winter but during the summer months in Iceland! Ice Explorers are local guides who live in the area. The owner of the company started the Glacier Walk in 2011, he was one of the first ones organizing these tours on Breiðamerkurjökull. Our main goal is to make your trip a memorable tour when your grandchildren ask what the best adventure was in your life, you will tell stories about what you experienced in Iceland included our tour. So why not to join us to become a glacier explorer on this guided glacier walk and learn more about the massive ice caps in Iceland?

Before stepping foot on the glacier you will meet your guide at Jökulsarlon the Glacier lagoon where your guide will teach you a few things you will need to know while walking on the glacier. We will take you with one of the biggest Superjeeps in Iceland close to the glacier, it’s about a half-an-hour drive, from where the adventure starts.

Once we hit the ice you will not only be amazed by the beauty but also mesmerised by the sound as the ice beneath your feet crunches. During
this tour, you have the possibility to even see crevasses, moulins and the world-famous glacier wall on Jokulsarlon.

Maybe if you are lucky, you can even see the glacier calve. The walk during the whole tour can be between 6-10 km.

Our base camp is right next to Jökulsárlón´s cafeteria which can be found on the main car park of Jökulsárlón. Here you will check-in, meet your guide and enter Iceland’s biggest Superjeeps before stepping off for an adventure. Look for our trucks. You won’t miss it.
